Dealing with the death of a family pet is a situation no family wants to experience, as they don’t know when they will be able to see their pet again and they are aware that they are vulnerable, alone, in the outside world.
This was the misery of a family in Alaska, USA, who spent three weeks searching for Lulu, their old blind golden retriever. Although they never gave up hope, it always seemed harder to find her.
Luckily, the furry one was discovered by a city construction crew after initially mistaking her for a bear when they noticed her in the bushes, according to AP.
Lulu was barely surviving, but her family is now caring for her at home, according to the Daily Sitka SentinelLulu. They’ re just grateful that she reached out to them again before it was too late. It’s truly a miracle!
“She is everything to me.” Said Ted Kubacki, Lulu’s owner, “My five daughters, who range in age from four to 13, have lived with this dog every day of their lives.
She is “so helpless, and you realize that since she can’t see, she can’t get very far,” he continued.
They encountered a number of difficult situations in the process, including when strangers made an offensive comment about her. When he learned that Lulu had been located, all of his anxiety and distress disappeared.
“My wife was screaming when I called her from work. She just started screaming, then she started screaming at the kids. They were screaming like crazy and I could hear them,” Mrs. Kubacki said.
This dog managed to hug her owner when they reconnected, despite her failing health.
