Every shelter dog aspires to find a place they can call home, and there’s no moment more heartwarming than when they are finally embraced by a loving family. Regrettably, this elation can be short-lived as some pets end up being returned to the shelter.

Recently, one of the long-term residents at the shelter faced such a situation. After being adopted, this furry friend was returned just three hours later. But now, he’s being given another chance at a happy ending.

Bronco, a 2-year-old Catahoula leopard dog, first arrived at the Humane Society of Tulsa back in June. He was discovered chained up during an FBI homicide investigation. Newsweek reports that he was rescued along with 13 other dogs and 31 chickens, all showing signs of neglect, and were left without access to food or water.

Despite his challenging past, Bronco is described as a playful and lively dog, with an “energetic spirit and a heart of gold.” However, no one seemed interested in offering this lovable dog a forever home, and months passed, making Bronco the shelter’s longest-standing resident.

Finally, on a Saturday, it appeared that Bronco’s prolonged wait was about to come to an end. According to the shelter, “the most amazing man” arrived to adopt Bronco and take him home. Yet, this happy ending was cut short when the man brought Bronco back to the Humane Society of Tulsa just three hours later, citing that his other dog was “not welcoming to him.”

It seemed as though it wasn’t meant to be, and Bronco found himself back at square one. The shelter expressed, “Bronco is losing hope,” but they did not give up and continued their search for the perfect forever home.

Bronco’s story went viral, and shortly after his heartbreaking return, another prospective adopter from Nebraska reached out, expressing interest in providing him with a loving home.

According to a Facebook post dated October 24, the adopting family has a 10,000-plus acre ranch and experience with the breed, making them ideal candidates. The Humane Society happily shared that Bronco is going to be “spoiled” in his new, spacious home.

We are delighted that Bronco has finally found a forever home filled with love! Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone who played a part in making this adoption possible.
