Woman of 6’5″ Fabricated Height on Dating Apps, Citing Intimidation of Men

Slightly stretching the truth is a common phenomenon in the realm of online dating.
While some individuals may adjust their age to appeal to potential partners, others resort to using old photos, falsely suggesting their current appearance mirrors the past.
In an unexpected twist, a woman active on dating apps has confessed to a minor fabrication regarding her height, influenced by feedback from previous romantic interests who found her stature ‘intimidating’.
Cecelia Mowczan, aged 29, shares that the prevalent portrayal of shorter women with taller men in movies led her to believe that dating a shorter man would seem unconventional.
Originating from Manchester, she acknowledges, “I never envisioned myself dating someone shorter than me, which significantly narrowed down my dating options.”
Her dating profile stated she was 6’3″, a height she had claimed, recalling instances where men cautioned her against wearing heels to avoid emasculating them.
Cecelia recounts, “Confidence should nullify such concerns. Yet, men on dating apps have remarked on my height being intimidating, even before meeting me.”
Her preoccupation with her appearance not only impacted her dating experiences but also her school years, where she felt conspicuous due to her towering height.
“I stood head and shoulders above boys in primary school and was already six feet tall in secondary school,” she reminisces. “Though I wasn’t bullied, I felt like an outsider. I’d often slouch in photos and avoid heels.”
This self-consciousness persisted until she sought therapy at 23, which catalyzed a shift in her perception of height.
Embracing her stature has bolstered her confidence, transforming her relationship prospects. Two years ago, she encountered William Davies, a 28-year-old who stood at 5’11”, through a house-share arrangement.
Despite initial reservations about his height, she agreed to a date and now considers him her ‘soulmate’, appreciating his acceptance of her height.
Cecelia reflects, “Initially, I hesitated because of his height, but I realized it was foolish to forgo a potential soulmate over a few inches. Though initially apprehensive about public perception, it no longer bothers us.”
She speculates that she might not have met William through dating apps due to their height difference, emphasizing her previous reluctance to date shorter men.
Now fully embracing her height, Cecelia has leveraged her experience to empower other tall women through TikTok, aiming to inspire confidence and highlight height-diverse couples.
“I aim to be a role model for tall girls and showcase height-diverse relationships,” she asserts. “Had platforms like TikTok existed earlier, I might have been more open to dating shorter men.”
